About
Ewandro's repertoire includes roles such as Cavaradossi in Tosca, Duca di Mantova in Rigoletto, Prince in Rusalka, Rodolfo in La Bohème, Lensky in Eugene Onegin, Canio in I Pagliacci, Gabrielle Adorno in Simon Boccanegra, Nemorino in L'elisir d'amore, Macduff in Macbeth, among others. Born and raised in Brazil, Ewandro began his studies in his hometown, Curitiba. After several concert series, he recorded Schumann’s Dichterliebe for the Brazilian National Radio in 2008. In 2009, he also appeared in the first DVD commercial recordings of two works by José Maurício de Nunes Garcia. Ewandro’s professional debut on the opera stage was in 2010, at the Teatro Municipal in Rio de Janeiro. His European debut was in 2012 as both Peter Quint and Prologue in Britten's The Turn of the Screw. Since then, his career has also taken him to opera houses in Osnabrück, Görlitz, Darmstadt, Winterthur, Freiburg, Kaiserslautern, Stuttgart, Erfurt, Detmold, Heidelberg, as well as the Maggio Musicale in Florence, the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, the Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari, and the Zomeroper Alden Biesen in Belgium. More recently, he made his debut at the Teatro Municipal de São Paulo as Erik in Wagner's Der Fliegende Holländer - a role he also interpreted at the Opéra de Massy in France, as well as in three other European productions.
Ewandro has sung under the baton of distinct conductors, like Giampaolo Bisanti, Isaac Karabtschevsky, Case Scaglione, Iván Anguelov, Sylvain Cambreling, Alexander Prior, Giuliano Carella, Will Humburg, Roberto Minczuck, Helmuth Rilling, Michael Schønwandt, Omer Meir Wellber, Federico Santi, Enrico Delamboye, Lutz Rademacher, and Cornelius Meister. He worked with directors such as Peter Konwitschny, Yannis Kokkos, Georg Rootering, Graham Vick, Davide Livermore, Dirk Schmeding, Carla Camurati, Guy Montavon, Jussi Wieller, and Giancarlo del Monaco.
His concert repertoire includes Beethoven's 9th Symphony, Bruckner's Te Deum, Verdi's and Mozart's Requiems, Puccini's Messa di Gloria, Rossini's Petite Messe Solenelle, Frank Martin's Et in Terra Pax and Dvořák's Stabat Mater, among many other significant works. His future engagements include Erik in Der Fliegende Holländer, his first collaboration with the Teatro Regio di Torino, as well as Wagner's Das Rheingold, and Dvořák's Rusalka on his return to the Erfurt Opera in 2024. Ewandro holds a Bachelor's Degree in Singing from UFRJ and a Master's Degree in Performance with a Diploma in Advanced Studies (Solistenklasse) from the Hochschule für Musik of Stuttgart. In Curitiba, he studied under the guidance of Denise Sartori and Lázaro David Wenger.
Between 2006 and 2010, Ewandro didn’t dedicate himself only to music. He was a full-time member of the Brazilian Marine Corps (Corpo de Fuzileiros Navais). Meanwhile, he pursued further studies in Rio de Janeiro, trying to manage a very challenging schedule. Eventually, he took part in competitions, which brought him some of his first professional appearances, helping him pave his way to Europe, where he joined the class of Prof. Ulrike Sonntag in Stuttgart, to whom he is deeply grateful.
